In today’s fast-paced and complex organizational environments, the need for innovative and flexible leadership styles has become more critical than ever. Traditional leadership approaches, often grounded in power, control, and sometimes latent aggression, may work under certain conditions but frequently suppress emotions, diminish creativity, and foster unhealthy psychological atmospheres. This is especially challenging when such styles are imposed on women managers, disregarding their inherent subtleties and sensitivities, which can create significant obstacles both for the female leader and her team.
Dr. Hojjat Baqaee, a distinguished research and development consultant and the creator of the Horshi leadership style, has long been committed to redesigning leadership approaches that align with the unique characteristics and needs of women. He believes that women’s leadership should not be a mere imitation of male models or prevailing styles but must be carefully crafted based on deep understanding of women’s behaviors, psychological traits, and natural capabilities. This innovative perspective is the result of years of study, research, and practical experience by Dr. Baqaee in the fields of management and human behavior.
The Horshi leadership style, pioneered by Dr. Baqaee, is a targeted and unique approach inspired by women’s behaviors and drawn from the wisdom of nature. Previously, he introduced two leadership styles known as “Rain Leadership” and “Sun Leadership,” each with distinct features and philosophies.
The Rain Leadership style symbolizes the kindness and compassion women often extend universally, much like rain that falls equally on everyone. This style is full of passion and emotion; even in moments of anger or turmoil, the rain of kindness continues to pour. However, the challenge with this style is that sometimes excessive and limitless compassion can turn into a flood, overwhelming the limited emotional capacity of people. While beautiful and heartfelt, this style may lead to exhaustion and emotional harm.
In contrast, the Sun Leadership style, which Dr. Baqaee advocates for women, balances kindness with strength. A woman should be like the sun: warm and encompassing, beautiful and shining among the stars, yet fierce and protective of her private space. The sun provides light to all but does not allow anyone to invade its core. This style enables women to set intelligent and protective boundaries, preserving their energy and well-being in the best possible way.
These two styles highlight different perspectives and leadership approaches tailored for women that must go beyond general and widely accepted leadership styles. Many leadership styles today offer a one-size-fits-all model that does not necessarily serve women and men equally. There is an undeniable need to create and promote leadership styles specifically suited to women’s traits, enabling female managers to excel while maintaining their psychological and social balance.
Dr. Hojjat emphatically states that women should not be like rain, scattering their kindness limitlessly and indiscriminately. Such boundless affection can sometimes come at the cost of losing oneself. Instead, women should embody the sun, radiant and burning, kind but guarded, so that others approach them primarily out of genuine need and do not invade their personal boundaries. He stresses that if others learn the secret behind women’s brilliance and generosity, they might exploit it to their advantage and to the detriment of women.
Ultimately, Dr. Hojjat Baqaee believes that women choosing the Sun Leadership style can pave a path of success and sustainability both in their families and organizations. This style, by balancing power and compassion, allows women to be effective and authoritative leaders while protecting their own and others’ mental and emotional health. He sees this leadership redesign as a vital step toward gender justice and improving management quality in today’s world.
